How to Scan a WiFi QR Code

Scanning a WiFi QR code takes one step on most phones: open the Camera app and point it at the code. If that doesn't work, or you just want to read the network details without connecting, upload the image to our QR code scanner instead.

iPhone

1. Open the Camera app.
2. Point it at the QR code until a notification banner appears at the top of the screen.
3. Tap the banner, then confirm "Join" to connect.

This has worked without a separate app since iOS 11.

Android

1. Open the Camera app (or Google Lens, on phones where the camera doesn't detect codes automatically).
2. Point it at the code.
3. Tap the network notification that appears to connect.

Camera app behavior can differ slightly by manufacturer and Android version.

Samsung phones

Samsung's camera app scans WiFi QR codes the same way as stock Android: open Camera, point it at the code, and tap the prompt. If your Samsung phone doesn't respond, try Bixby Vision or Google Lens from the Camera app's mode switcher instead.

Reading a WiFi code from an image

If you have a photo of a WiFi QR code but nothing to scan it with right now, or your phone's camera isn't picking it up, upload the image to the QR code scanner. It reads WiFi codes and shows you the network name and security type directly, with the password hidden behind a "Show" button so it's not visible at a glance.
