Do I enter my username or the full profile link?

Either works. Type just your username, with or without the @, and this tool builds the full instagram.com link for you. A full profile URL also works.

Does Instagram already have a QR code for my profile?

Yes, tap the menu on your profile and look for a QR code icon. It works well for phone-to-phone scans, but you can't resize it, change its colors, add your own logo, or download it as a print-ready SVG. Use this tool when you need any of that.

Can I match Instagram's colors?

You can set any foreground and background color under "Customize appearance." Keep strong contrast between them (dark on light works best) so the code still scans reliably; Instagram's gradient itself is too low-contrast to use directly.
