How to Create a QR Code in Chrome

Google Chrome's QR code generator is built right into the browser, no extension or account needed. It works on desktop, Android, and iPhone, though the exact menu differs on each. This covers all three, plus what the built-in code can't do and when to switch to a dedicated tool instead.
Desktop Chrome
- Open the page you want a QR code for.
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Hover over "Cast, save, and share," then click "Create QR Code."
- Click "Download" in the small window that appears to save it as a PNG.
There's a shortcut too: right-click anywhere on the page and choose "Create QR Code for this page" from the context menu. Menu wording and position can move between Chrome updates, so if you don't see it in the exact spot described here, look in the same general area, it hasn't moved far in recent versions.
Chrome on Android
- Open the page, then tap the three-dot menu.
- Tap "Share," then look for the QR code icon in the share sheet that opens.
- Tap it to generate the code, then save or share the image.
Chrome on iPhone
- Open the page, then tap the three-dot menu at the bottom.
- Tap "Share."
- Tap "Create a QR Code" in the share sheet.
- Save the image to Photos from the preview that appears.
Apple's share sheet layout changes with iOS versions, so the exact position of this option may differ by version.
What Chrome's QR code can't do
- Links only, it can't encode WiFi details, a contact card, plain text, or anything besides the current page's URL
- PNG only, no SVG for sharp large-format printing
- No color, size, or logo customization, it may add a small browser icon in the middle but nothing you choose
- No printable layouts, table cards, or signs

Edge and Firefox
